
The Taraba State Police Command says it has deployed about 5000 personnel to various locations to ensure a peaceful Christmas celebration across the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Usman Jada disclosed this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Jalingo.
He said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Sokoya has mandated his Deputy on operations to act and ensure that people celebrate Christmas and the New year without any hitches.
According to him, a secular had been sent to all Area Divisions across the state to ensure adequate security at the places of worship for successful celebration.
SP Usman Abdullahi noted that the command has banned the use of knockout and other explosive devices, adding that anybody caught with such things will be punished.
He advised the Christian faithful to take advantage of this momentous season, to strengthen their relationship with their Lord and pray for the peaceful coexistence of the state as well as the nation at large.
The PPRO further called on the youths to avoid any act that could lead to violence.
He advised the people of the state to also avoid disclosing their destinations on social media while traveling, as well as be security conscious, noting that this is a period that some strangers will be coming in.
