
It was amidst cheers and celebration as the charter president and officers of Isoko Royal Lions club, under the Lion International (District 404-A4 Nigeria), Region 9, were formerly installed over the weekend at Oleh in the popular Isoko development Union (IDU) hall in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The event was a gathering of the crème de la of Isoko land as distinctive sons and daughters of the ethnic nationality who have impacted and distinguished themselves at diverse capacities were not only excited to witness the historic event but were also honored with awards of excellence.
Awardees include the commissioner for health, Delta State, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme; the current FederalLegislator representing Isoko North/Isoko South constituency, Jonathan Ukodhiko; Chairman, Delta State hospitals management board, Dr. Paul Oweh;Chief Executive Officer of Skyworld Resources Limited, Chief Eta Enahoro; the chairman of Isoko North, Hon. Godwin Ogorugba, and his counterpart in Isoko South Council, Hon. Friday Warri, among others.
The ceremony which basically highlighted the installation of the charter president of the club, Lion princess Oghale Oweh, wife of the Chairman, Delta State hospital management board, Dr. Barr Paul Oweh, club officers, induction of members and a fund-raising luncheon of twenty million naira geared towards the president’s legacy project, saw the presence of the Governor, District 404-A4 Nigeria of the club, Lion Dcn. Prince Osadebamwen Okoro, who conducted the installation and presentation of the officers of the new chapter of the Lions Club.
During the installation, the District Governor appealed to the charter president and club members to work harmoniously and assiduously in taking the club to enviable heights.
“It is not enough to limit yourselves to your club routine but to make effort in birthing another club while making our society a better place” just as he noted that “Lions are never weary in carrying out humanitarian services as we are called to do so in our diverse capacities.”
In her acceptance speech, the charter president who recognized the task of lionism, promised to inspire positive change, be dedicated to service and create good precedents for future members and leaders to follow.
