
Ugbomro Secondary School in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has emerged thewinner of the just concluded 2024 Zenith Bank Delta Principals’ Cup Football Competition organized for all the secondary schools in Delta State.
The representative of Ugbomro Secondary School who received an 18-seater bus as winners’ prize from Zenith Bank, came to Uvwie Local Government Council on Monday to honor the Executive chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Chief Anthony Ofoni for his support and encouragement during the competition.
According to the Principal of Ugbomro Secondary School, Mrs. Rebecca Omotuyine, the competition lasted for one month. She said Ugbomro Secondary School emerged winners in Warri South, Okpe Local Government and the finals against Umutu Secondary School where the match ended 2 goals to zero in favour of Ugbomro Secondary School.
In his remarks, Chief Ofoni expressed delight at the victory of the Uvwie-based team, stating that sports bring unity among people. He promised to support and encourage sports in Uvwie Local Government Area.
In a related development, the Uvwie Council Chairman has presented school materials to three children from Alegbo Primary school in fulfillment of his promise made during the celebration of his 100 days in office.
Ofoni gave the children a scholarship up to the university level, emphasizing that he would prioritize education for children in the area, further expressing his willingness to support and upgrade the educational experience of children in Uvwie.
One of the parents of pupils from Alegbo Primary school, Mr. Appeal Johnson appreciated Chief Ofoni for his kind gesture towards the children and promisedto guide his child to be a better person in the future.
