Political stakeholders from Okpe, Sapele and UvwieFederal Constituency have reiterated the need for equity, inclusive representation, and performance-driven leadership as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
This position emerged at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, at the residence of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. The meeting brought together party leaders, political appointees, and key figures from across the constituency to deliberate on issues affecting political representation and development in the area.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Keyamoemphasized that discussions centered on strengthening unity within the constituency, promoting fairness in political participation, and aligning with broader party guidelines. He noted that consultations among leaders at the state, zonal, and local government levels remain ongoing, with a focus on ensuring balanced representation and sustained development.
Participants highlighted the importance of adopting approaches that foster cohesion and stability, while also encouraging credible and capable individuals to participate in the democratic process. They stressed that such measures are essential to deepening democratic values and delivering the dividends of governance to the people.
The meeting was attended by several notable stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sonny Ekedayen; Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata; Mr. Kingsley Esiso; Chief Austine Ayemedejor; Chief Francis Ariyor; Hon. EfeUko; Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. Bright Abeke; Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Anthony Ofoni; and Chairman of the State Bureau for Pensions, Mr. Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje, among others.
In a related development, stakeholders from UvwieLocal Government Area also reviewed legislative representation within the constituency, acknowledging the importance of accountability and continuity in governance. They noted that sustained evaluation of elected representatives based on their performance remains vital in ensuring effective service delivery and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
