The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the newly sworn-in Head of Service, Dr.(Mrs.) Charity Babigha-Ehimen, on her appointment as the 13th Head of Service of Delta State.
The Governor charged her to lead the Service with fairness, humility and integrity, while strengthening discipline, accountability and efficient service delivery.
Governor Oborevwori gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Head of Service in Asaba, urging her to bring her wealth of experience in the Public Service to bear in improving the performance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Acknowledging that she has served in various capacities since joining the Service in 1993, the Governor encouraged her to work closely with Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments to promote discipline, accountability and prudence in the management of public resources.
Governor Oborevwori enjoined the Head of Service to encourage workers by providing necessary support for their professional development and demonstrating the standards expected of them.
“Your responsibility is not just to supervise the Service but to help our people work better and serve the public with pride,” he said.
While calling on Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to cooperate with the new Head of Service, he emphasized that collective commitment is essential to achieving a more efficient and responsive Public Service. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, citing regular payment of salaries, sustained investment in training, and introduction of incentives to improve staff morale and productivity.
Responding, the newly sworn-in Head of Service expressed appreciation to the Governor for finding her worthy of the appointment and pledged to discharge her responsibilities with dedication, fairness and integrity, while ensuring effective implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda to improve service delivery across the State.
Later, the newly sworn-in Head of Service and her husband were treated to a wonderful reception at the Asaba Leisure Park.
