The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has vowed to continue to honour and remember retired public servants as well as those still in service, after retirement, as a mark of appreciation for their meritorious service to the State.
Governor Oborevwori stated this on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Send-forth Ceremony organized in honour of the immediate past Head of Service, retired Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, held at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Governor commended the retirees for their immense contributions to the growth and development of Delta State.
Thanking them on behalf of the State Government, Governor Oborevwori advised serving officers to emulate the exemplary virtues of their former colleagues who have set enviable standards for the Service.
He noted that retirement is not the end of the road, but a new phase of life where the retirees’ professionalism, experience, wisdom and maturity would become even more useful to society. He prayed that they would explore new adventures, attain greater accomplishments and find more fulfilling engagements in their future endeavours.
The Governor reaffirmed that his administration is determined to leave a legacy of a highly motivated, competent, transparent and performance-driven workforce, anchored on equity, fairness and justice as core values.
He urged all civil servants to remain law-abiding and to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and decorum in the discharge of their lawful duties for the overall development of the state.
In her welcome address, the Head of Service of Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, described the workforce as resourceful, patriotic and dedicated. She thanked all for joining in celebrating her predecessor, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, mni, and 27 retired Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments who retired from the Delta State Public Service between 2023 and 2025.
